Americana Traditions

Filed under: bath accessories — admin @ 12:56 pm

There’s a new product that we recently loaded onto our site. It’s called the Americana Toothbrush Holder and as you can see, it’s as American as Apple Pie.

When was the last time you saw the original flag with thirteen stars? Well, with this in your bathroom, it will be a constant reminder of everything our brave soldiers have fought for and won. We really do owe them for our freedom.

The folks at Blonder have really put together a nice product. It has all the details that one has come to expect from them.

Amish Farm Wallpaper Border

Filed under: Wallpaper Borders — admin @ 8:27 pm

If you’re trying to sell your home, you may find it useful to pay careful attention to the décor in your dining room.  This often dramatic room could end up being a factor in the decision of prospective buyers.  You’ll want to take a moment to examine your room as though you’ve never seen it before.

First, look at the walls of your dining room.  If it has a border, is the border outdated?  An outdated border often makes the lists of things that prospective buyers instantly hate during their tours of open houses.  If your border isn’t as fresh as it was when you applied it, consider replacing it with a more current border like the Amish Farm wallpaper border.

The second most important thing you can do to allow your dining room to make a big impression is to clear it of clutter.  Set the table before your open house in the style that you would for a formal dinner.  Clear everything from the room that doesn’t relate to its role as a dining room.  In no time at all, you’ll have a space that is sure to make a positive impression on prospective buyers.

From Baby Girl to Teen Queen, there’s always a wallpaper border

Filed under: Wallpaper Borders — admin @ 3:02 pm

Unless you enjoy the prospect of remodeling your daughter’s bedroom every year or two, finding a way to decorate her room that will age with her is really important.  The bright pink that she loves at two years old may seem too girly at eleven.  However, the brilliant turquoise that she chose at eleven may seem too immature for her tastes at sixteen.

One way to allow a room to grow up with your daughter is to choose a subtle, neutral color as a base and to let her accessories reveal her personality at the time.  A warm khaki is always a good choice for a wall color.  While she’s young, your daughter may enjoy a girly bedroom theme like the one seen in the Baby Dresses wallpaper border.   As she ages, then, you can simply change out her accessories for more suitable ones:  perhaps the Wild Flowers wallpaper border.

Bathroom Accessories for the Less Than Graceful

Filed under: bath accessories — admin @ 9:18 pm

Are you intimidated by the beautiful, but breakable, bathroom accessories that seem to abound in department stores?  Sure, those ceramic beauties look nice in the store, but after you’ve knocked them off the counter a few times, the nicks on the surface of the accessory will start to show.  Are accident-prone families destined to purchase multiples of their bath accessories to prepare for the inevitable damage that will happen to their accessories?

Instead of fighting the losing battle against those fragile décor items, consider choosing sturdier items for your bathroom accessories.  Look for plastic or metallic accessories that will be able to withstand any abuse your family can dish out.  You’ll be much more relaxes when you don’t have to worry about protecting the appearance of your accessories.

Embellishing Your Shower Curtain

If you like adding your own personal touches to your home’s décor, a shower curtain may seem like a blank canvas to you.  This massive part of your bathroom’s décor can be embellished in many different ways allowing you to create one-of-a-kind shower curtains that no one else will have.  Try your hand at one of these ways to embellish your shower curtain.

  • Paint your own design on a solid-colored shower curtain.
  • Sew or glue sequins onto the curtain to draw attention to key parts of the curtain’s design.
  • Sew ribbons onto the curtain to create three-dimensional stripes.
  • Cut shapes from fabric and sew (or glue) them onto the curtain.

Different kitchen accessories

Filed under: Kitchen Accessories — Tags: — admin @ 12:59 pm

Many different occasions warrant a kitchen gift for friends or family members.  Bridal showers, housewarmings, and even weddings are all suitable occasions for giving a kitchen gift.  But, if budget is an issue for you, you may need to keep an eye on the price of your gift.

Fortunately, it’s entirely possible to give a kitchen gift that costs less than $20.  You can choose from many different gifts and, in some cases, combine two or three small gifts, without doing any permanent damage to your pocketbook.

Decorative Towels – Kitchen towels are always welcome in a kitchen, and pretty ones like the Provencal hand towels will make a great gift.

Utensil Holder – Utensil holders are an alternative to that traditional drawer stuffed with utensils.  Your friend or family member will really appreciate this thoughtful gift.

Spoon Rests – Having plenty of spoon rests near the stove helps with keeping the cooktop clean.

Pot Holder – No one who likes to cook can have too many potholders.  There are a wide variety of shapes and designs of these protective items available.

The Perfect Wallpaper Border for Any Room

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:10 pm

Some wallpaper borders seem perfect for use in the kitchen.  Others appear to be made for the bathroom.  Some borders even suit a teenager’s room.  The Daisy Chain wallpaper border, however, is one border that is perfect for just about any room in the house.

A cottage bathroom would be incomplete with the addition of this pastel-colored border.  Imagine a room with beaded paneling installed on the lower portion of the wall.  Then simply apply the Daisy Chain border above the paneling.  The fresh-looking flowers will make spending time in this bathroom a pleasure.  Accessorize this bathroom with pretty towels in pink, green, or purple.

If you’re more interested in choosing a wallpaper border for your kitchen, the Daisy Chain border is still a great choice.  Close your eyes and envision a row of these friendly daisies gracing the soffit over your kitchen cabinets.  The clean colors of this border will go nicely with natural wood cabinetry or plain white cabinets.   A collection of kitchen accessories using the same colors will complete your kitchen makeover.

A baby girl’s nursery is another great location for using the Daisy Chain border.  Your little girl will cheerfully enjoy her days surrounded by these flowers.  For an added sense of whimsy, you can cut individual flowers out of border scraps and scatter them around the room’s walls.  As an added bonus, as your little angel grows, these timeless flowers will grow with her.  By changing the paint color you use with the wallpaper border, you can take your little girl’s room from babyish to stylish and hip.

Another option for using the Daisy Chain border is to create a fanciful living room that features these bright-colored flowers.  You will never have to worry that the tension of the world will invade this family refuge.  Who could be stressed out in a room covered with these idyllic blooms?  Pretty enough to satisfy the girls in your household but subtle enough not to offend the boys, this wallpaper border will add a relaxing touch to your living room.

One final suggestion for adding the Daisy Chain border to your home is to incorporate the border into a hobby room.  When you’re lucky enough to find time to sneak away from tedious chores to work on your favorite hobby, you want to forget about all of the worries of your day.  Create a peaceful getaway from your responsibilities that allows you to focus on your favorite pastime, whether it’s sewing, scrapbooking, or some other hobby.  If you like to display your projects while they’re in progress, consider outlining a section of your wall with the border and painting the surface of the wall with magnetic paint.  You’ll have a custom display board for all of your ideas and projects.

Whatever room you’re decorating, take a moment to consider how the Daisy Chain border might take your room from standard to spectacular.  With a little creative thinking you can quickly find a way to fit these attractive blossoms, and their bright colors, into any room.

Reminiscing with Wallpaper Borders

Filed under: Wallpaper Borders — Tags: — admin @ 7:29 pm

Visiting your local county fair can bring out the nostalgic feeling in anyone.  Suddenly, you’ll find yourself in the midst of amusement and scenes that seem to be from years past.  You’ll hear the loud sounds of the pig races.  You’ll smell the smells that only come from rows and rows of fair foods.  You may even see a tractor pull.

Once you’ve returned home and find yourself missing the simple life you were reminded of during your visit to the fair, you may choose a new wallpaper border for your family room that pays homage to your trip.  A country scene wallpaper border is one option.  Another option, however, is a popular John Deere border.  Now, you’ll feel like you’re still at the fair, no matter what day it is.

The Perfect Baby Shower Gift

Filed under: Home Design Decor — admin @ 10:12 am

Baby showers are the perfect opportunity to welcome a new little one into the family, even if he hasn’t made his appearance yet.  Showering the expectant mother with gifts to make her and the baby’s life sweeter is one of the most rewarding experiences a family can share.  But how do you decide what to give?

To create a baby shower gift that will stand out in the new mom’s memory, you may create a special “nursery kit.”  Begin by checking out the family’s baby registry to get an idea how they’d like to decorate the baby’s room.  Then select a border from the list, or if there isn’t one on the list, find a border that coordinates with the rest of the room’s décor.  Now, you need to take care of the rest of the walls. Since you won’t want to have paint mixed ahead of time, purchase a small gift card from your local home improvement store to cover the cost of a gallon of paint.

The next step is to include accessories from the registry that fit your budget.  If money is tight, pick one item.  If you are planning to be a little more extravagant with this gift, pick several items.  Finally, combine all of the gift elements into a basket or container that can be used in the room.  Write a sweet note offering your time when the new mother is ready to start decorating.   She will appreciate the help in getting the baby’s room ready and you’ll get to share a very exciting time in her life.

Creative Stopping Points for Wallpaper Borders

Filed under: Wallpaper Borders — admin @ 10:38 am

Occasionally, when installing a wallpaper border you’ll be faced with a room that doesn’t have a clearly defined place to stop your border.  For instance, many upscale houses use rounded corners on drywall edges.  The walkway between your dining room and kitchen, for example, might have rounded corners.  These round corners are great for new construction homes that tend to use the same color throughout the house.  However, if you’re trying to make one room stand out from the other, these rounded corners could prove to be problematic.

Instead of trying to select an arbitrary place to end your border with a flat edge, you could create a decorative end for your border.  With a craft knife you can cut out part of the wallpaper border’s motif.  By cutting out a particular part of the border, such as with our  heart wallpaper border you can end the line of wallpaper border without having to draw a line where there is none.

Maintaining Your Bath Rug

Filed under: bath accessories — admin @ 8:32 am

Remember when you first picked out your bath rug?  Maybe you loved the way its fibers felt between your toes.  Or maybe you fell in love with the image or pattern it displayed.   Keep that warm and cozy feeling intact by maintaining your bath rug.

Spot cleaning any spills will help keep your bath rug looking new, but eventually the rug will need to be cleaned.  Many rugs can be washed in the washing machine as long as you wash them separately.  Make sure the lint trap is emptied before and after you wash the rug.  Then hang the rug to dry outside.  In no time at all, your rug will be as good as new.

Easy Shopping for Bathroom Accessories

Filed under: bath accessories — admin @ 2:16 pm

Shopping for accessories for your bathroom can be a little overwhelming.  One store has a shower curtain you adore, but none of the coordinating accessories.  Another store has everything you want, but charges three times as much as you’re willing to pay.  If this sounds like a recap of your most recent shopping excursion, shopping for accessories on the internet might be the way to go for you.

When shopping on the internet, you can quickly see what that store has to offer.  Forget wondering if that empty space on the store’s shelf is supposed to hold the product you’re looking for.  Never again will you have to ask a clerk to look for an item in the back.  You’ll be able to tell at a glance if the internet store has what you want.  And, since internet stores often has less overhead built into their pricing, you can probably get a better deal  shopping on the web.

Double Your Fun with Wallpaper Border

Filed under: Wallpaper Borders — admin @ 8:52 pm

Are you bored with the wallpaper borders you’ve found lately?  After all, most of them are relatively similar to each other and usually applied in one or two fashions.  Before you get too carried away with that thought, check out a fun, alternative to your standard wallpaper border.

A double die cut wallpaper border  allows for maximum creativity when applying your wallpaper border.  Forget about feeling like you have to mount your border so that the flat edge of the border is against the ceiling or a wall trim.  A double die cut border doesn’t have a flat edge.  You can apply these borders anywhere in the room that strikes your fancy.
